In this blog, there’s help with your GA4 transition, two people that I have a professional crush on doing podcasts, a digital tool I'm trialing and a notice from Squarespace…

Are you ready?

Although we've all had 2 years to transition to GA4, so many people are leaving it to the 11th hour right now!! On 1 July 2023, Universal Analytics (UA) properties go silent and Google Analytics 4 (GA4) take over.

Online is Easy - UA expiry countdown

For a limited time, we're offering our UA→GA4 Migration service for only $164. By making the transition, you'll unlock powerful insights for understanding user behavior, refining your marketing strategies, and achieving greater online success.

Keep up with digital innovation and maximize your website ROI. Visit our product page at www.onlineiseasy.com.au/GA4 to learn more about GA4.

To understand how and why Universal Analytics is being retired and how Google Analytics 4 (GA4) works, read our blog, Unlocking the Power of Enhanced Insights, or jump to specific information like How is GA4 different from UA?

After 1 July 2023, you'll be able to access your previously processed data in your Universal Analytics property for at least six months, however, Google strongly encourages you to export your historical reports during this time.

Buy our UA→GA4 Migration service online. If you need more info, please don't hesitate to call me directly or schedule a free 15 minute Zoom call online.

What inspires you?
How can I add value for you?

I'm inspired by authentic, smart, empathetic and ethical business people. One of the people I follow added links at the bottom of her regular email to share the things, people, podcasts, books, etc. that were inspiring her. I thought it was a great idea — mine are below.

In an effort to make my comms more valuable to my customers and community, here's my inspiration this month.

Please feel free to reply and tell me what you think? Tell me what you DO, and DON'T want to hear from me? How often? What format? etc. -- I'm all ears!!

Kate Cook, Analytics Translator & Marketing Strategist.

“Specialists. Bless them. I love anyone with passion for what they do but you’ve got to be able to zoom out, right?”
Kate heads the Analytics team at The Lumery, Melbourne and the gal behind attribution gal. I first saw Kate speak in Sydney after attending Edge of the Web 2022

With tech being a predominantly male dominated landscape, I love how Kate ignores the status quo of selling fear and being patronising with the technical side of digital marketing. She is super smart, but unlike her male counterparts, she's humble and pulls no punches with her deep understanding of digital marketing. I'm still quoting her over a year later. She followed the quote above with, "Ask your SEO specialist, what attribution model they are applying? Are they just reporting out of the dashboard? You can do that!” Kate thinks you should ask for omni-channel reporting if you’re paying for SEO and don’t just accept what you’re being told - challenge the stats and ask questions.

I've stayed away from SEO as a service for years now because of the fluff and esoteric nature of online digital marketing and the SPAMmy, used-car salesman style that's associated with it. Kate's talk encouraged me to look again and remove the fluff to uncover the value of good, ongoing SEO.

My team and I have been working on an ethical SEO service that is now in the beta stage and we're testing our service with a few select clients. Kate gave me hope that there are people in this sector who are, (a) actually interested in providing an ethical value proposition, and (b) genuinely want to empower others with their knowledge.

In the digital marketing podcast NoHack.Show episode I've linked below, Kate was interviewed about the 'looming GA4 apocalypse on 1 July 2023' (lol) and she provides a survival kit of great resources to keep you afloat during the transition. In the footer of the podcast there are some fantastic links, including a GA4 Migration Checklist (if you want to do it yourself).

Erika McInerney, founder of Mac&Ernie, creator of Better Social® + Small Town Business.

Personal mission: to help make social media a more genuine and positive place to be.
I've known Erika since 2016 and, for 3 years, we both helped launch the Binary Shift Tech Conference in Gippsland. As well as running a multi-award winning social media and marketing business, she is Manager of the Gippsland Community Leadership Program and she has recently launched a new podcast, Small Town Business, to shine a light on people making big things happen in small towns, regional and rural communities. It's full of engaging and genuine stories from authentic people.

Like Kate Cook, Erika is understated, empathetic, approachable and super smart. She doesn't brandish her smarts, but hanging on her wall is a Bachelor of Arts in Media & Communication, a Masters of Marketing, a Certificate in CX (Customer Experience) and she has been working in Advertising and Marketing for over 25 years, seven of those running her own business, Mac&Ernie.

Even though the latest episode was out yesterday and it's great, the episode I'm crushing on is an interview with Kristy Plumridge, the owner of Green Hills Farm and The Ridge House in Yarragon, West Gippsland. A couple of weeks ago Kristy and I connected over a Zoom call where I guided her through some tips and tricks of using cloud computing; Google WorkspaceGoogle My Business, and Google Analytics. Her regional business story is a good listen.

Like Erika, Kristy and her husband Neil made a treechange from Melbourne but they did it a little differently. Kristy is also involved in Creative Harvest an annual event held around Gippsland.

Your time and attention matter.

With all the shiny things to play with and be distracted by online I sometimes find it hard staying focused -- I get at least 30+ emails a day. At the start of this week I found a Chrome browser extension for desktop Gmail that boosts productivity, strengthens privacy, and reduces️ stress, as well as offering to blocking over 250 email spy trackers. It will also work in Firefox, Edge, Safari, Brave and Vivaldi.

Created by one of the co-founders of Google Inbox, I signed up for a 14 day trial of Simplify.

I'll let you know how I go. If you try the 14 day trail, let me know what you think? So far, I think it's going to be worth the AUD$3.43 per month (it's cheaper for groups). I have no affiliate links not make any commission of this, if it helps you like it's helping me, that's awesome.

Finally, a notice from Squarespace...

On 30 June they are discontinuing integration with Google My Business (now Google Business Profiles) and are removing the Location Management panel. This will not affect your Google Business Profile itself, and you'll still be able to manage as normal through Google. You’ll just no longer be able to edit your business profile through your Squarespace site.

If you have any questions or concerns, you can reach Squarespace Customer Support or you can get local Australian Squarespace support from me. You can schedule a free chat or you can jump right in and book support time online.

Cheers,
